Coming off of Saturday’s dramatic, come-from-behind win over Texas Wesleyan University in the Opening Round of the 2018 NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championships, the McPherson College Bulldogs found out on Monday afternoon what awaits them next at the final site in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Bulldogs, who enter the final tournament of the season at 33-2 overall, and finished No.23 in the final NAIA top 25 poll, are in Pool H with the No.8, No.9 and No.25 seeds. They will head to Sioux City on Monday next week for the opening banquet, and then pool play will begin on Tuesday at the Tyson Event Center.

Mac opens pool play at 5 p.m. on Tuesday against the ninth-seeded Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears, out of Billings, Montana. The Bears come into the tournament at 28-4 and were 12-0 in their conference. They making their sixth appearance in the national tournament and made it into this year’s tournament as an at-large berth, receiving an opening round bye.

The Bulldogs’ next opponent will be the eighth-seeded Northwestern University Red Raiders, who hail from Orange City, Iowa. The Red Raiders got into the tournament as an automatic qualifier, winning the GPAC regular season and tournament. They finished the regular season at 24-7, and 13-3 in conference action. This is the 14th tournament appearance for the Red Raiders. The Bulldogs and Red Raiders will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pool play wraps up on Thursday, with the Bulldogs taking on the Knights of Marian University from Indianapolis, Indiana. This is the eighth-appearance for the Knights, who are 28-8 overall, and finished 15-3 in conference play. They are seeded 25th in the tournament, and like the Bulldogs, had to play an Opening round match. The Knights hosted Faulkner University, and won in straight sets. The Bulldogs and Knights will meet on Thursday at 6 p.m.

There are eight pools of four at the final site. The top two teams from each pool will make it to the round of 16. The round of 16 and the quarterfinals will be played on Friday, and the tournament will wrap up on Saturday with the semifinals and finals.
