Thelma Miller, 85, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2018.
Family will meet with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Private family inurnment to be held later at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Thelma was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Grant, Oklahoma, the daughter of Oscar and Frances (Shephard) Bunch. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1950.
Thelma was united in marriage to Harlan F. Miller Aug. 4, 1950, in Ottawa. They celebrated over 60 years together before he preceded her in death on June 15, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Calvin and David Bunch; and grandson, Tyler Miller.
Survivors include children, Melissa “Cathy” Miller of Ottawa; Calvin Miller and wife, Kathy, of Ottawa; and Kenny Miller and wife, Lisa, also of Ottawa; brother, James Bunch and wife, Deloris, of Mound City; six grandchildren, Callie Moore and husband, Jason; Kassy Moore and husband, Eric; Andrew Miller and wife, Angela; Addison Miller and wife, Stephanie; Alyssa Crook and husband, Ryan; and Aaron Miller; and nine great-grandchildren.
Through the years, Thelma was employed at Southwestern Bell as an operator and as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards, Peoples Bank and Harlan’s Car & Truck Repair, all of Ottawa, from the late 1950s to 1980s. She was a member of the Soroptimist Club of Ottawa.
Thelma enjoyed fishing and needlework but her greatest joy was family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren
