A Salina man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly attempted to rob a man using a knife before throwing a brick through the front door of Innovations Dental Laboratory, 510 E. Iron, and entering the building, according to Sgt. Gary Hanus of the Salina Police Department.

Randy L. Bartlett, 37, of Salina, was arrested on recommended charges of felony aggravated robbery, felony interference with law enforcement, misdemeanor criminal damage to property and misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

Bartlett allegedly provided police with false information, which resulted in the recommended charge for interfering with law enforcement.

Capt. Paul Forrester said the 51-year-old owner of the business told police the suspect approached him Monday while he was sitting in his car in the parking lot. The suspect wielded a pocket knife and demanded the owner empty his pockets, Forrester said, but the owner talked him out of it and the man walked away.

Later on Monday, Forrester said a witness at the nearby Save-A-Lot grocery store spotted the suspect breaking the glass on the front door of the dental lab with a brick. The suspect entered the building but left a few minutes later empty-handed.
