Business and space expand for local restaurant

Augusta’s popular Sugar Shane’s Cafe celebrated two years at the 430 State Street location this year.  In that time, owner Shane Scott upgraded the main dining area with new flooring, new booths, new ceilings, new lighting and added bar space.
Recently a brand new Paradise Patio opened, as well as a large banquet room.  More parking for the restaurant is also in the works.
Scott had more plans for more expansion earlier this year when he contacted the City about the establishment of a Community Improvement District (CID) that would be used  to provide financing for the expansion.  A 2 percent sales  was approved to be levied to pay for the qualifying costs.  The 2 percent sales tax for Sugar Shane’s customers will expire in 22 years or when Scott pays off the building, which will most likely occur first.
Shane’s hospitality, along with good food keeps his customers coming back and constantly attracting new ones.  The local cafe has been a destination for visitors from all 50 states and 18 countries.
In addition to providing great food and a favorite eating place for Augusta, Five Star Catering by Sugar Shane’s Cafe has become a take-off success.
“The catering has really helped us.  We cater events in Wichita, Kansas City, and all over.  We’re really busy,” Scott advised Thursday evening as he hosted a VIP reception for the cafe’s Five Star Catering.
Tables filled with samples of appetizers, salads, pasta, entrees, and detectible desserts tempted patrons.
