Katherine Marie 'Kathy' Bearden, 81, of Hutchinson died Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was born April 2, 1937, in Liberal, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Dessie Orlean (Norris) Severin.

Katherine Marie 'Kathy' Bearden, 81, of Hutchinson died Sunday, November 18, 2018. She was born April 2, 1937, in Liberal, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Dessie Orlean (Norris) Severin.
She was a 1955 graduate of Hutchinson High School and a member of East Point Church of Christ, Wichita. She enjoyed enriching the lives of children both intellectually and spiritually, spending several of her adult years as a para, helping children learn to read. She also taught children's Sunday school classes and was always helping others in any way she could. She always saw the best in others and was a shining example of a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had the innate ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met and could put anyone at ease with her warm, loving, and kind soul.
On January 30, 1956, she married Billy Utah Bearden at Walker Air Force Base, Roswell, New Mexico. Kathy is survived by: her husband of 62 years, Billy; children, David and wife Mary of Greeley, Colorado, Joseph and wife Thuy of Wichita, and Cindy Carr and husband Thomas of Andover; brother, Francis 'Sonny' Severin and wife Jolene of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Travis Bearden, Amber Rhea and husband Brandon, Dustin Bearden and wife Amanda Roberts, Billy S. Bearden and wife Taylor Green, Chadd Carr and Amy Le-Bearden; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; granddaughter, Heather Carr; and niece, Sheryl Severin.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum Street, Hutchinson, with Wayne DeWindt presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
